Working on a New Album: Due for Release Soon...
Orient Fusion= Sylvie & Martin

Orient Fusion, all sorts of ideas came to mind :East meets West. Story book stuff, great food, Fantastic Bride and Groom. Now for those that have been following my blog, might just recognise the faces. No! I did not hash the wedding shoot. This was the 2nd part of their wedding.

Location: Orient Fusion a trendy place where good food is top of the list, friends meet and a perfect place to have a wedding reception. The guest list was impressive from the Consular General to me:)

Enjoy the imagery.A few of my favorites.

Louis & Louise

Saturday morning, was a very early early start to the day. I haven't done a morning wedding for a very looong time and had forgotten how early you need to get up to capture all the moments.

Louise and Louis opted to have their wedding photographs taken before the ceremony, which was a good choice. Louise you were an amazing bride , full of enthusiasim and an absolute pleasure to photograph. Thankyou so much. Here are a few of my favouritess of the day. Enjoy the honeymoon and travel safe. Best wishes. Mario

Zebra

Had the opportunity of seeing a close friends work sometime back. She had spent a year in Tanzania as a guide and captured some amazing images. This one of the Zebra in particular caught my eye, and felt that I needed to share it with you good folks. So no wedding images this time round.

Nerene & Jurgens

Sharing the same surname is rather unusal, especially one like mine. So it felt like a family Wedding for me when I shot Nerene and Jurgens wedding. I need to aplogise, these were mistakenly uploaded to the wrong folder. Anyway an awesome wedding, with great weather and a awesome couple. Enjoy Mario

Got to catch up on some sleep:) More images to follow

Backlog

2008 ! Wow can't believe it. Mmh! No this post isn't outdated.

A quick note to all,2008 is going to be a great year with a destination wedding in Thailand, Mozambique, workshop in Paris with Jerry Ghionis, TTD session in London, wedding in Kenya I am all excited.

What has that got do with 2007 you may be asking? I currently have a backlog of 7 weddings, from Nov 2007 to Feb 2008 to edit, compile and deliver to clients.(Completion time is now 8-10 weeks.)

A wedding is a special union of two people, a Mario Sales wedding album is a reflection of that union and it is my commitment to my couples that I will not outsource any of my work to 3rd parties in order to get the work done. Call it Artistic Integrity if you like, but I just can't let go of my work. Everybody tells me it does not make business sense and that it will be more profitable to expand and delegate.

So for those of you waiting for your Wedding Albums,I apologise rest assured it will presented with the passion as the day that it was captured.

Oh yes , Robyn has joined the team and will be taking over the admin from me, Phew! Sigh of relief from all my clients, she is super efficient ( I even have files of names of my clients, officiating ministers and to top it all maps to the venues).

Best wishes. Mario

Blurry Action Image of the Week
Annelie & Daryl : Diamond Hill

Weekend Time, and what better way to start it off with a Wedding: especially Annelie & Daryl's Wedding. I decided to give my assistant the day off, ( Yiks : What we photographers do.) Mmmh! I can't remember the last time that I shot without my assistant ) Well I am happy to report that it went Swell, but must admit that I missed the fetching and carrying part :) Me doing most of the fetching and carrying. In retrospect: I planned and thought out Loads more, if that's possible, Redbulls were nor present, Inspiration there was plenty, but must admit that I did run into a tree. For those of you that know me I get pretty excited on a shoot and get totally caught up, needless to say I ran smack bang into a Pine Tree in the forest, and went down for the count of 10.With Bravado I continued as if nothing happened, did I get the shot? Oh Yes that's why I have dedicated this weeks Image of the Week to a "Blurry Action Image".

Estelle & Ben from Diamond Hill thank you so much for being the good folks you are, and offering your home as a location for my shoot. Adelle & Bertus and kids it was great to meet up with you again ( It was like meeting old friends.) Then to a gorgeous couple Annelie-you made my day, Daryl you are "cool".Enjoy the Maldives and send me a post card. Regards Mario

Literacy & a Surfboard

Have you ever had the that surreal feeling that this can't be real?

Well that is what happened to me last week. After an early morning flight to Durban and a drive to Inanda in rural KZN to photograph a literacy project that I have been involved with for the last 12 years I came across the most amazing sight.

Let me back track a while.Literacy is an important part of daily life and something that we take for granted, well I did until I realized that there are people that cannot read or write, tasks that I took for granted are just not part of the daily scheme of things. Fast forward: After collecting a hired car, which might be suitable for tarred roads we were on our way. With a good friend we reached our destination in the rain, and after much slipping and sliding there was no way this vehicle was going to reach the top of this mountain, never mind the unforgiving track. Loading my camera gear and following our guide I reached the top ( For me : It was like conquering Kilimanjaro. There was this house with a surfboard, miles away from the sea, uncanny.

The analogy: no matter where you are or, circumstance, never take anything for granted.

IMAGE OF THE WEEK
Sylvie & Martin

By the time you read this, Sylvie & Martin have been on their honeymoon, and enjoying married life. For those of you that having been following my blog you will have noticed that I did their engagement shoot a while back. Sylvie is a meticulous person with a fine eye for detail, Martin is one of the most easiest grooms that I have had the privelege of photographing. Saturday morning was just one of those perfect days, and to top it all I met up with Davina ( A tongue twister of a name... especially for someone who has a short memory) Mortlock a harpist who played background music before and after the service. For me it is always a reunion when I get to photograph the couple for either their engagement shoot or images for their invites, and I meet up with them again on their wedding day. Here are a few images. Can't wait to start their album.
